30+ years of GERnétic in Australia – The Woman Behind Its Success
Once upon a time, in a hospital burns unit in Paris, a leading French Cellular biologist, Dr Albert Laporte, created a formula designed to assist the healing process of burns.
This formula enhanced the skin’s immunity and ability to regenerate, leading to rapid healing. Through his journey, Dr Laporte discovered that the formula also improved the overall health and youthfulness of the skin.
Dr Laporte went on to create an innovative, powerful range of skincare products for the masses. He spent 50 years researching how skincare products can be most effectively absorbed into the body. He understood that the skin has the ability to rebuild itself when precisely dosed nutritional elements are delivered to it. This is what GERnétic was all about, and the results spoke for themselves.
The story of GERnétic began in the 1960s in France, but it took until 1989 for the GERnétic flag to reach the shores of Australia!
Jacqueline and Jean-Luc Gaubicher moved from France and set up Vital Plus. They became the sole distributor and educators of GERnétic’s innovative method and philosophy.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of GERnétic’s arrival on Australian soil, we have had the pleasure of talking to Jacqueline about how her journey began and her insights into this incredible skincare brand.
Her passion to educate beauty therapists and to help women to discover beautiful, healthy skin was at the heart of her journey with the GERnétic method. Her story is one of dedication, devotion and success.
This blog looks at the impact Jacqueline and the arrival of GERnétic in Australia has had on thousands of skincare professionals and skincare enthusiasts in Australia.
Back to the Beginning
Jacqueline began her career as a beauty professional in the early 70s, and by 1979 was running her own beauty salon in France. Hearing about Dr Laporte in a professional magazine, she got in touch with GERnétic and fell in love with the products after an initial treatment. As only the third salon to start using GERnétic, Jaqueline has been with the brand since its inception.
Receiving training from Dr Laporte himself, Jacqueline discovered that GERnétic adopted the principles of bringing nutrition through the skin. The underlying aim being to treat the cause rather than the symptoms to achieve long-term results.
Jacqueline’s customers soon became loyal fans of GERnétic, while achieving amazing results. One example she gives is of a woman with acne on her forehead. This is indicative of digestive issues, and she was able to effectively treat the condition by using a body product – Adipo Gasta. Who would imagine that by treating digestion by applying a cream on the stomach, you could cure acne on the forehead? Hormones or nutritional deficiencies can also cause acne, and GERnétic knew these internal issues must be treated to see external results.
The GERnétic Difference
Much of what GERnétic was doing was way ahead of its time. For example, using the principles of face mapping and understanding that diet and lifestyle has a major impact on skin health. Dr Laporte famously said 50 years ago, “the skin is a reflection of our inner health and wellbeing”.
In addition, GERnétic has always nurtured the skin barrier and has never endorsed the use of aggressive peels or treatments. Cell turnover naturally slows down with age. A lifetime of harsh treatments will stop the skin from doing what it does best. This includes protecting the body from outside aggressions (sun & pollution), allowing internal toxins to excrete, and preventing moisture loss. When the skin barrier is continually stripped and attacked by aggressive exfoliating products, the skin’s barrier is impaired, and so are its main functions.
Having spent more than ten years in France working with the GERnétic brand and with Dr Laporte’s blessing, Jacqueline and her husband Jean-Luc decided to bring GERnétic here to Australia.
At the time, Australia was fairly archaic compared to Europe in its approach to skincare. GERnétic was one of the first professional skincare brands in the country. It was mind-blowing for many beauty therapists. Jacqueline began to spread the GERnétic philosophy to innovative therapists around the country, and the brand soon began to take off. She trained the first therapists herself, and we still hear beautiful accounts of how impactful Jacqueline’s seminars were to so many back then. Many have said: “She changed my life, and I went to study nutrition” – “she brought back the passion in my job, she made me want to learn more because I felt I could do more to help my clients.”
Even before Jacqueline began her journey with GERnétic, she was fascinated by nutrition and how putting the right nutrients into our bodies will affect our skin health. This passion for health and nutrition was what drew her to the concept of GERnétic – it was the perfect match. Having discovered the likes of Dr Kousmine and Dr Hauser, she took this passion into her role as GERnétic’s leader. She inspired many beauty therapists to educate themselves in this field. It has only been in the past 5-10 years that society has understood the importance of gut health and nutrition, yet Jacqueline was teaching this 30 years ago! Without a doubt, she was a pioneer in the industry.
Over the past three decades, GERnétic has continued to thrive worldwide as a salon only, highly active and results-driven brand. In Australia, we continue to grow our client base and share the vision that is GERnétic.
Available to the public directly from beauty salons, we believe that every skin is unique and, in turn, needs to be treated as such. That is why a beauty therapist is the best person to advise on what is right for YOU.
If you are new to GERnétic, do not doubt that the results will flaw you, and you will never look back. We are eternally grateful to Jacqueline for bringing GERnétic to Australia all those years ago and inspiring so many to approach skincare with integrity and a holistic style.
